Foldable iPhone: Apple’s foldable iPhone, widely referred to as the iPhone Fold, could finally arrive in 2026 after years of speculation. Leaked CAD renders highlighted in a recent FrontPageTech (FPT) YouTube video show a book-style foldable design with a large internal display and a compact external screen, drawing comparisons to the Google Pixel Fold. While the proportions resemble existing foldables, Apple seems to focus on a minimal crease and a cleaner folding mechanism.

The renders suggest that the iPhone Fold will have a 5.5-inch external screen and a 7.8-inch internal display. Tipster Ice Universe points out that the only major difference between the iPhone Fold and Samsung’s rumoured Galaxy Wide Fold may be the curvature — Apple could opt for a more rounded R-angle, whereas Samsung’s device appears squarer.

The device is rumoured to be 9 mm thick when folded and 4.5 mm when unfolded, which is slimmer than the Pixel Fold (12.1 mm folded, 5.8 mm unfolded) and close to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (8.9 mm folded, 4.2 mm unfolded). FPT’s video suggests Apple is using a pressure-dispersing metal plate, liquid metal in the hinge, and an in-cell touch panel to minimise crease visibility while maintaining smooth touch response, as reported by Jon Prosser via FPT.
Camera and performance details point to dual rear cameras and dual front-facing shooters, paired with the A20 Pro chipset fabricated on a 2nm node and Apple’s proprietary C2 modem. Touch ID may be integrated into the power button, keeping biometrics accessible yet discreet.
These leaks highlight Apple’s goal of a slim, crease-minimised, premium foldable that combines usability with style. If true, the iPhone Fold could redefine foldable expectations in 2026, offering a wide-screen experience without the typical compromises of hinge design or display crease, positioning it as a serious competitor to Samsung and Google in the foldable market.
