Apple has been working on the iPhone 16 series, which may be released in September of this year. However, Apple has been in the news for its new foldable phones, and it appears that the tech giant will release the phone in 2026, according to The Information. According to the report, this would be the most significant hardware design change for the company's most popular product.

The Cupertino, California-based company's intention to create a foldable iPhone may be a ripoff of Samsung Electronics' 2019 foldable sector pioneering strategy, which aimed to draw in new customers with a significant redesign of the hardware design.

Citing two people with knowledge of the topic, the story stated that Apple's foldable iPhone had advanced beyond the conception stage. The Information stated that the iPhone maker has given the product an internal code name of V68 and that the business has contacted vendors in Asia to manufacture parts for it.

Foldable handsets with AI capabilities should boost demand for the iPhone manufacturer, which is up against fierce competition from Samsung worldwide and Honour and Huawei in China. Earlier in July, Samsung announced its newest foldable smartphones, which have new AI features and a lighter, smaller flagship model.

According to a May Counterpoint Research research, the global foldable smartphone market expanded 49% in the first quarter from a year earlier, which was its highest pace of growth in six quarters. Huawei dethroned Samsung to take the top rank.

According to the Information report, Apple also intends to update the camera on at least one iPhone model, enabling users to adjust the aperture's size via a mechanical system and potentially producing a depth-of-field effect. Additionally, the report stated that there is no assurance Apple will release the iPhone that folds.
