BSNL has made another round of changes to its budget prepaid plans, and this one hits validity — the most valuable part of any recharge. BSNL recently cut their popular Rs 107 voucher that once provided 35 days of service to just 28 days earlier this year, without offering any new benefits to cushion this blow. The move reflects a broader pattern in BSNL’s tariff updates, where lower-cost plans are gradually offering less validity, nudging users toward higher-value recharges. The Rs 197 plan has also seen a sharp reduction, dropping from 54 days of validity to 42. Here’s a clear breakdown of what’s changed and what customers still get for their money.
BSNL Rs 107 Plan Now Comes With 22 Days Validity
BSNL’s Quick Recharge page confirms the new validity: 22 days. Earlier versions of the same recharge offered 35 days, then 28, and now a further cut. Despite this reduction, the benefits remain unchanged.

Users get:
- Unlimited data with speeds reduced to 40 kbps after 3 GB.
- 200 minutes of voice calls across local, STD, roaming and MTNL networks.
- Standard SMS and calling charges once free minutes are used.
What You Pay After Free Benefits End
Once users exhaust their 200 minutes, calls cost Rs 1 per minute locally, Rs 1.3 per minute for video calls, and Rs 2 per minute for STD. SMS charges are 80p for local messages, Rs 1.20 for national, and Rs 6 for international. Post-quota data is billed at 25p per MB.

BSNL Rs 197 Plan Also Sees Reduced Validity
The reduction doesn’t end with the 107 voucher. BSNL has also trimmed the Rs 197 plan, which previously offered 70 days, then 54 days, and now just 42.
It includes:
- 300 minutes of calling
- 4GB high-speed data
- 100 SMS in total

Why BSNL Is Shrinking Validities
BSNL appears to be shifting away from providing lower-cost plans with long-validity validity periods in favor of offering recharges that provide higher value recharges, in order to push more subscribers toward high-value recharges. With 4G rollouts still taking place and 5G soon to come online, they appear to be consolidating revenue through tariff adjustments rather than expanding services.
Final Thoughts
If you rely on BSNL’s budget vouchers for long validity, these changes will feel tight. The Rs 107 and Rs 197 plans still offer decent short-term benefits, but the shrinking validity means you’ll recharge more often than before. As BSNL restructures its prepaid portfolio, users may need to evaluate whether higher-value plans offer better long-term value.
