The next big chipset launch is round the corner and all indications suggest that performance is projected to go up by a level for the next breed of flagship killers and beyond. The move is less surprising given that the company has already confirmed that it will launch on November 26 in China and will be a step-down sibling to the ultra-premium Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. And yet, early reports indicate the gap between them could be incredibly narrow. Leaked benchmarks suggest strong CPU gains, a speedy Adreno GPU and performance that may compete with the company’s priciest mobile silicon. Now with a few smartphone firms getting ready to welcome it, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is likely looking like the chipset to beat in early 2026.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Launch Date Confirmed
Qualcomm made the announcement through Weibo, confirming a November 26 reveal in China. The timing places it roughly two months after the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, reinforcing Qualcomm’s new two-tier approach for top-end chipsets.

CPU Architecture: What Leaks Reveal
Tipsters claim the SoC uses an octa-core layout featuring:
- Two prime cores at 3.80 GHz
- Six performance cores at 3.32 GHz
This setup matches earlier leaks and suggests Qualcomm is prioritising sustained, balanced performance.
Adreno 840 GPU Expected
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is said to be using the same Adreno 840 GPU as that in the Elite Gen 5. Whether the processing units can be shaved for cost, the GPU is said to hum along at 1.2 GHz, indicative of a potent graphics draw for gaming and other high-end apps.

Early Benchmark Scores
Leaked test results paint a promising picture:
- 3,000 single-core and 10,000 multi-core on Geekbench
- Over 3.3 million on AnTuTu
- 100+ fps in the demanding GFXBench Aztec Ruins 1440p test
If accurate, the chipset could deliver flagship-tier speed at a slightly lower cost.
Phones Expected to Launch With Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
Several upcoming models are tipped to use the new chipset, including:
- OnePlus Ace 6T (likely to launch globally as OnePlus 15R)
- Vivo S50 (expected globally as Vivo X300 FE)
- Redmi Turbo / Poco F8 series
These devices may be among the first to showcase the chip’s real-world performance.

Final Thoughts
With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, Qualcomm seems to be filling the space between its lower-flagship tier and higher-end Elite lineup. Solid CPU leaks, strong GPU muscle and good early benchmarks mean that chip is poised to shake up the mid-range scene for Android flagships. When the Nov. 26 reveal arrives, we can find out exactly how close it comes to Elite-level performance — and which phones will assist that Elite-phone in reaching its full potential.
