BSNL 5G: BSNL has kicked off the rollout of its new Quantum 5G Fixed Wireless Access (Q-5G FWA) service in India, targeting both homes and businesses that need reliable high-speed internet—minus the hassle of wired connections or SIM cards. The launch began on June 18, and for now, the service is available in a few select locations, including Hyderabad.

Unlike standard 5G offerings from Jio, Airtel or Vi, BSNL’s Q-5G FWA is not meant for mobile usage or voice calling. Instead, it’s positioned as a broadband solution—similar to Jio AirFibre and Airtel Xstream Fibre—that delivers fast internet access to areas where fibre networks haven't reached yet, particularly tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

Plans and Speeds

The base plan starts at ₹999 per month, offering minimum download speeds of 100 Mbps. For those needing even more bandwidth, there's a higher-end ₹1,499 monthly plan that promises speeds of up to 300 Mbps.

Who Is It For?

BSNL is aiming this service at locations where internet infrastructure is limited or unreliable—think smaller towns, remote offices, or even homes that still struggle with patchy connectivity. Since it doesn’t use fibre or mobile networks, it’s a promising alternative where those setups are impractical.

How It Works

To get users connected, BSNL installs special Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) on rooftops, which then links up to a router to broadcast 5G connectivity indoors. There's no SIM, no cable clutter—just fast wireless internet.

For anyone curious about how to get started or where it’s currently available, BSNL recommends checking its official website or reaching out to your local BSNL office.
