ChatGPT is on fire, zipping past over 2.5 billion requests daily, as Axios reported using OpenAI’s figures. Roughly 330 million of those requests each day slice through the U.S. alone, showing that the bot is now the heavyweight champ of the global AI ring. At this track, it’s cruising toward an eye-popping 912 billion queries a year, a leap in AI speed that’s never been seen before.  

What’s wild is this number compared to old-school search engines. Google, the years-long heavyweight that’s been our doorway to the web, still pulls in about 5 trillion searches a year. Sure, ChatGPT trails that trail right now, but the way AI traffic is accelerating, the gap could close a lot faster than anyone thought. If that happens, how we hunt for and chat with information online could flip on its head.

ChatGPT’s Growing Popularity

OpenAI’s Browser Project: Aura

Now, amid all the buzz, Reuters says OpenAI plans to roll out its AI-powered web browser under the name Aura. They’ll build it on Chromium, so every existing web page keeps working, but the real twist will be AI features that smooth out everything you do online.

Picture a slim AI panel on the right side of your browser. You ask a question, and you get instant answers without losing your current page. If OpenAI brings ChatGPT’s smarts right into Aura, it could shake up the browser race, going head-to-head with Google Chrome, especially since ChatGPT already draws in 500 million users every week.
