OpenAI has released its latest model, referred to as o3-Pro. Building upon the capabilities of its predecessor, o1 Pro, the new model seeks to improve reliability, depth, and accuracy in performing tasks related to science, mathematics, programming, and education. As of now, the new model is only accessible to ChatGPT Pro subscribers with API access on June 10, 2025.

In a blog post, the company claimed that o3 Pro is an enhanced iteration of OpenAI’s flagship o3 model and includes advanced features such as web browsing, file analysis, Python execution, and image interpretation. The company further argued that because of the sophisticated nature of the processing and the integrated tools, responses might take longer than with other models.

Based on internal and peer-reviewed assessments, the company claimed that its new model has successfully projected o1 Pro and o3 in several parameters. OpenAI also reported that the expert reviewers appreciated the model for its clarity and its instruction-following, comprehensiveness, and accuracy.

One of the benchmarks used to validate its consistency is the 4-over-4 reliability test, where o3-Pro demonstrated its ability to answer questions correctly in all four test runs, the company added. This indicates that o3-Pro is especially beneficial in solving highly sophisticated problems that require more accuracy as compared to speed.

Availability and limitations

As described earlier, all ChatGPT Pro and Team users can now access o3-pro using the toggler, which has replaced o1-pro. In about a week, enterprise and educational users are expected to gain access. o3-pro is temporarily lacking support for temporary chats, image generation, or Canvas features owing to ongoing technical work.

OpenAI emphasises that o3-pro retains the same backbone as the o3 model, but benefits from improved fine-tuning, which makes it ideal for advanced applications in research, business, and creative writing.
