Pony.ai robotaxi: A Guangzhou-based company Pony.ai Inc. is looking forward to launching its robotaxi services in Hong Kong, joining the race with Baidu to provide services in the city, as the firm eyes at expanding its operations globally.

Before expanding its operations into the urban areas of the city, the Nasdaq-listed Pony.ai is currently aiming at providing robotaxi commuting services for airport staff within Hong Kong International Airport, according to a statement by the company that came out on Friday. The firm has not yet provided any time frame for the launch.

Chinese artificial intelligence giant Baidu is also looking forward to the launch of its driverless taxi service in the city after they got approval from the Hong Kong government to conduct trials in North Lantau in November.

Pony.ai, which has received robotaxi service licenses in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, stated that it is also exploring the expansion of its autonomous driving operations in South Korea, Luxembourg, the Middle East, and other countries.
