Nothing has just launched its CMF Phone 2 Pro in the market, aimed at the mid- to budget-tier segment in the smartphone world. The device comes with a lot of firsts for the CMF series and the overall lineup of Nothing phones. Boasting a tonne of customisability options, the device comes with enhanced performance upgrades while maintaining its iconic aesthetic.

Now with this new edition on the market, it's normal to ask which Nothing phone you should go for, as we also saw the launch of the Nothing Phone 3a a month ago. So here we will compare both the models so you can figure out which one is the best for you.

Display Comparison

Both the devices sport a 6.77-inch AMOLED screen with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits with 120 Hz refresh rate support. Both the devices come with HDR 10+ support and 2160 Hz PWM dimming to protect your eyes. Here the CMF Phone 2 Pro is the lighter variant at 185g and thinness at 7.8mm but has IP54 water and dust resistance, while the Nothing Phone 3a is heavier at 201g but has a higher water and dust resistance rating of IP64.

Camera comparison: CMF Phone 2 Pro vs Nothing Phone 3a

The Nothing Phone (3a) features a 50MP main sensor with both OIS and EIS, a 50MP telephoto lens offering 2x optical and up to 30x zoom, and an 8MP ultrawide lens. Up front, it sports a high-resolution 32 MP selfie camera. In comparison, the CMF Phone 2 Pro also includes a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP telephoto lens, though its digital zoom maxes out at 20x. It uses a slightly wider 8 MP ultrawide camera and a lower-resolution 16 MP front camera. While both can shoot 4K at 30 fps and slow motion at 120 fps, the Phone (3a) has the edge with its superior zoom range and sharper selfies.

Battery comparison: CMF Phone 2 Pro vs Nothing Phone 3a

Both devices pack a 5000 mAh battery, but the Phone (3a) charges faster with 50 W support, reaching full charge in just 56 minutes. The CMF Phone 2 Pro, on the other hand, supports 33W charging and adds 5W reverse wired charging—handy for powering smaller gadgets. They both run on Android 15-based Nothing OS (v3.1 on the Phone 3a and v3.2 on the CMF 2 Pro) and offer three years of Android updates. However, the CMF model provides longer-term support with six years of security updates, compared to four on the Phone (3a).

Under the Hood Specs

Both the devices come with a powerful processor; the CMF Phone 2 Pro runs on a Dimensity 7300 Pro 5G chip which is paired with 8GB RAM and 128 and 256GB storage options. While the Nothing Phone 3a comes with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor with 8GB RAM. While both are a good option, the numbers do favour the Snapdragon processor, which has a higher AnTuTu score.

Price Point Comparison

The CMF Phone 2 Pro will cost you Rs 18,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant, and the 8GB + 256GB version is priced at Rs 20,999. On the other hand, the Nothing Phone 3a will cost you Rs 24,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant, while the 8GB+256GB is priced at Rs 26,999.

So in the end, both the devices offer great features and specs and come with a lot on the table. Each device has its advantages, while it has to be said that the Nothing Phone 3a is a bit more powerful when it comes to the processor and water and dust resistance, and I personally love the iconic Glyph interface. All in all, both offer great value, and it's on you to decide which one sits best with you.
