New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: In order to control the coronavirus outbreak in the country, the central government on Tuesday extended the COVID-19 lockdown till May 3, the measure has produced a significant outcome in containing the dreadful infection.

Addressing the nation fourth time since the coronavirus outbreak in India, PM Modi PM Modi said that the country has managed to contain the spread of the virus because of its holistic approach and sacrifices made by the country.

PM Modi also appealed people to use the ‘Aarogya Setu App’, saying it helps in tracking the coronavirus cases in the country. PM Modi said that the app is a critical link in the fight against the spread of the novel coronavirus.

This is not the first time when PM Modi has appealed people to download the ‘Aarogya Setu App’. Earlier, he had said that the app could subsequently be used as an e-pass to facilitate travel from one place to another.

As PM Modi urged people to use the Aarogya Setu App, here’s all you need to know about the how the app work and how it can help you track coronavirus patients around your surroundings.

How to use the Aarogya Setu App?

  • Install the app from playstore
  • Switch on the Bluetooth and location
  • You would also need to set the location sharing to 'Always'.
  • Select the language you want to use
  • Submit necessary details like name, age, profession, international travel.

After this, the app will cross-check the details with the government database. Following this, if you come in contact with COVID-19 positive patient, the app will alert you and send you a notification. It will also show whether you are at high-risk or not.

It is noteworthy to mention that the data provided by the user is said to be encrypted and is sent to the government's server anonymously.

In Google playstore, the app has been described as, “Aarogya Setu is a mobile application developed by the Government of India to connect essential health services with the people of India in our combined fight against COVID-19. The App is aimed at augmenting the initiatives of the Government of India, particularly the Department of Health, in proactively reaching out to and informing the users of the app regarding risks, best practices and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of COVID-19”.
