NOTHING, the London-based tech company, announced Nothing Ear (2) as a successor to Ear (1) yesterday. The TWS is the third addition to the earphone catalogue of the company.

During the launch event, the company made tall claims of improvements over its predecessor. But what are the changes on the spec sheet? Well, here is a comparison for you to know.

Nothing Ear (2) vs Nothing Ear (1) Specifications

The Ear (2) draws roots from its predecessor in design. It has a transparent build but with "pressure-resistant material for a premium feel" now, according to Nothing. The buds and the case are slightly lighter when weighed with the Ear (1).

While the driver size remains the same in the two at 11.6 mm, the Ear (2) comes with improved audio. The new model supports 24-bit Hi-Res audio compatible with LHDC 5.0 codec. Plus, a user can personalise sound profiles via the Nothing X app. The latest offering comes with an additional ear tip fit test and low lag mode in the app.

Talking of Active Noise Cancellation, the Ear (2) comes with up to 40dB noise cancellation with adaptive ANC. Earlier, Ear (1) had touch-based controls for calls and music, but Ear (2) comes with press controls for the same tasks.

The battery life has been improved from up to 5 hours of listening time to 6 hours in one go. With the case, it has increased from 34 hours to up to 36 hours with the Ear (2). Speaking of instant charging, with 10 minutes of charge, the Ear (1) was claimed to offer 50 minutes of listening with ANC enabled. On the other hand, Ear (2) can offer 1.25 hours of backup with the same charge and ANC.

Compared to the IPX4-rated predecessor, the Ear (2) comes with an IP54 rating on the buds and IP55 on the case.

Nothing Ear (2) vs Nothing Ear (1) Price

The Ear (2) is listed in just one colour - White. Its predecessor came in another black option. Talking of the price, the Nothing Ear (2) has been launched at Rs. 9,999. Ear (1) was launched at Rs. 5,999 in India. The new TWS can be purchased from Flipkart, Myntra and select offline channels.
