Samsung has officially entered the extended reality (XR) revolution with their newly unveiled Galaxy XR smartphone - an Android XR-enabled device powered by Unity 6 with dedicated support for immersive experiences delivered directly into headsets. This groundbreaking smartphone will deliver groundbreaking experiences directly through Unity 6.

Key Day-One Android XR Apps:

Google Maps XR – Discover real places in 3D with Immersive View, a new way for you and your friends to walk around and explore cities and the great outdoors.

Samsung’s headset, which is codenamed Project Moohan internally but may not launch as such, uses Android XR’s modularity to simultaneously support a range of form factors and make it easier for developers to port existing content into XR. “Unity 6’s Android XR support allowed our team to port big games in a week, as well as architect new experiences such as Inside [JOB],” says Andrew Eiche, CEO of Owlchemy Labs.

With those apps as well as the bonus of Android XR, Samsung’s stance with the Galaxy XR is strong in the mixed-reality arena, both for developers and for consumers that are looking to have a more digital environment from day one.
