Amid a radiation row that plagued Apple iPhone 12 in France, the Cupertino-based tech giant has now announced that it will roll out an update for the users to end this problem with the regulators that halted the sales of these models due to an infringement of radiation limits.

According to Reuters, the company said the update aims to ensure the iPhone 12 continues to be available in the country. Plus, the changes will adhere to the protocols set by the regulators.

"We will issue a software update for users in France to accommodate the protocol used by French regulators. We look forward to iPhone 12 continuing to be available in France," Apple said. "This is related to a specific testing protocol used by French regulators and not a safety concern," it added.

Responding to the update, the concerned authorities welcomed the decision. "The ANFR (French regulator) is preparing to quickly test this update," said the Digital Transition and Telecommunications Ministry headed by Jean Noel Barrot in France. If this update brings the model in consonance with the European standards, the ban will be lifted, according to the statement.

Earlier, Apple contested the radiation claims saying that the 2020 model iPhone complied with global standards set by multiple international bodies. Responding to the jolt of sales by France, Belgium also iterated that it would review the health risks associated with the Apple smartphone.

For context, Europe is the second biggest market for Apple iPhones and a landscape that has driven changes such as USB-C on the latest models. Apple introduced the iPhone 15 series as the successor to the iPhone 14 models on September 12. The models were on the expected lines: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
