Google's Gmail is already trending on X and other social media platforms because of rumours that Google is about to shut down the popular email service. Social media users were shocked until Google announced that Gmail was being shut down. It was a false rumour, and Google has confirmed that Gmail is here to stay.

Gmail Shut Down: What We Know 

The rumour that Gmail might stop working on August 1 has already caused a lot of confusion among Google Suite users. However, it would have become difficult to digest Google's decision to shut down Gmail (which is not true), leaving the worldwide markets undeniable. This is because Gmail is utilised by both consumers and businesses.

The rumours likely stem from Google's recent announcement that Gmail's Classic 'HTML View' will be discontinued in 2024. It has its own perks just like faster loading and easy access even with the outdated machines or slower net connection.

Despite its outdated capabilities, this stripped-down UI served as a passable fallback for customers who only needed a rudimentary view of their email.

“Gmail is transitioning users from Basic HTML view to the latest version of Gmail, also known as Standard view. If you use a screen reader for Gmail in Basic HTML view, read our transition guide,” the company added on the Help page.

Aside from this little adjustment, the email service is expected to function normally for the foreseeable future. In fact, Google continues to introduce new experiences and upgrades to Gmail.
