GOOGLE Docs users can now add emoji reactions to comments on the platform. It would allow the user to react in a less formal yet expressive manner, the search giant shared in a Workspace Updates feed. For the unversed, Google first announced Emoji reactions in Docs on the web in April 2022.
As a build-up over the existing functionality, the feature will allow users to react to conversations in the comments section via emojis. The option will appear once they hover the cursor on the message and select the emoji icon.
"This new feature increases collaboration by enabling you to quickly and creatively express your opinions about document content," Google said. The update is rolling out to Rapid release domains. And the Scheduled Release is slated for May 3.
Other than this, the company also announced three more updates.
Inserting images on Google Sheets on Android
Users can drag and drop or copy and paste images to Google Sheets on an Android device as "an over-grid image rather than an in-cell image." Further, users can now convert over-grid images to in-cell from the context menu. This feature is rolling out to Rapid Release domains and will go live via Scheduled Release domains on May 8.
Google Slides image replacement
Users can now drag and drop an image over the existing image to replace the previous media in Google Slides. Earlier, the protocol for replacement was via the menu toolbar or by right-clicking the image and selecting the "Replace image" option from the drop-down menu. It is live via Rapid Release domains. And Scheduled Release domains will get the feature from May 9.
Update to Google Calendar
Now the service users can attach a document, presentation or spreadsheet to the Calender event from Google Meet in Docs, Sheets and Slides. This would allow the attendees easier access to files. But, it will be available to "Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Standard, Education Plus, the Teaching and Learning Upgrade, and Nonprofits customers only."
