Google Pixel Call Recording: Google has started to roll out its call recording feature to Pixel smartphones in more countries outside the United States. This feature returned to some of the markets last year and it now seems like they are expanding, as it is now appearing for more users in parts of Europe. As per reports, Google has confirmed that the rollout will continue across all supported regions by the end of February. However, it may be subject to the local regulations related to call recording and users’ consent.

Pixel Call Recording Reaches More European Countries

In a report, 9to5Google says users in several European countries have started receiving the call recording option on their Pixel devices. Recently, users in Germany, Italy, Spain, Romania, and France reported that the feature is now enabled.

Google initially announced the return of the Call recording feature in September, with the limited rollout that began in November last year. So the feature was mainly restricted to the US, while users across Europe felt its absence. Google reiterated the Call recording feature and will become widely available following the launch of the Google Pixel 10a.

Call recording is a different feature that works on Google Pixel 6 and newer models that run on Android 14 or later. This feature is not AI-based and is separate from the Gemini Nano-based call notes feature available on select newer devices. It also does not create transcripts or summaries.

How to Enable Pixel Call Recording

If you want to enable the call recording on your Pixel device. You can simply enable the feature by:

1. Open the Phone app.

2. Navigate to Settings.

3. Tap Call Recording under the Call Assist section. 

4. During a call, tapping the record button starts recording with an automatic audio announcement informing all participants. 

Users can choose to automatically record calls from unknown numbers and set recordings to delete after 7, 14, or 30 days, or keep them permanently. Saved recordings appear in the Phone app’s home tab with a microphone icon and built-in playback controls.
