Google Pixel 8 Pro Latest Feature Drop: Search giant Google launched the Pixel 8 series smartphones in October this year. To improve the experience of users, the company introduced its December 2023 Feature Drop a few days back. Among the key highlights of the update is Gemini Nano, which can now run on Pixel 8 Pro for "on-device tasks".
With the aid of Tensor G3 and AI, the phone has received Summarise in Recorder and Smart Reply in Gboard. As the model runs natively on the phone, it can help prevent sensitive data leaks. Plus, you can also use some features without an internet connection. The other versions of Gemini will unlock more features along with Assistant with Bard next year on these phones.

Summarise in Recorder
The Summarise feature in Recorder is backed by Gemini Nano on the latest Pixel 8 Pro. It can help you extract a summary of "conversations, interviews, presentations," and more, even if you do not use the internet.
Smart Reply
On the Pixel 8 Pro, Smart Reply can suggest responses while chatting with users on WhatsApp in the developer preview. While currently available on the Meta-owned app, it will debut on more apps next year.

Video Boost
Backed by Tensor G3, Video Boost of Pixel 8 Pro uploads videos to the cloud and uses "computational photography models" to adjust colours, lighting, stabilisation, grains and more to improve output via Google Photos. The feature also enables users to use Night Sight video, which reduces noise and enhances colours and details in low-light environments. Google also introduced Night Sight in Timelapse in the Pixel Camera for the Pixel 8 series.
Apart from these AI-heavy upgrades, the tech giant announced more minor enhancements. Portrait light (to balance light and improve photos) and Photo Unblur were improved in the latest Feature Drop. Google also released the option to use a Pixel 6 or newer device as a webcam.

The new 'Clean feature' can help users clean "smudges, stains and creases" from select scanned documents. A new Repair mode to protect personal data while sending the device for repairs and contextual replies for Call Screen were also among the top highlights of Google's official blog.
