GOOGLE announced the Pixel Buds Pro last year. The buds pack in an amazing audio experience alongside features like active noise cancellation, real-time translation with Google Assistant and wireless charging. The latest entrant to this feature checklist is spatial audio.

Google in an announcement dated March 7, unveiled the new feature in the Pixel Buds Pro. The audio experience has already started rolling out and will come to all supported Pixel devices by next week. Spatial Audio allows a user to hear audio that “sounds more wide and open, as if you’re being immersed in sound.” It has more depth and sounds better when compared to typical stereo headsets.

With the new head tracking feature, the sound moves around with the position of the head to give the listener an immersive sound output. Plus, the company claims “theater-like sound for movies and TV shows.”

How To Enable Spatial Audio

To experience spatial audio, a supported app like YouTube, Netflix or HBO with 5.1 surround sound will be a pre-requisite. The feature will work on Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, or Pixel 7 Pro. Along with the latest software update installed, the user will have to turn on ‘Spatial Audio’ from ‘Sound & vibration’ in Settings.

Plus, the ‘Head tracking’ mode shall be enabled for the Pixel buds Pro from the ‘Settings’ menu. The latest firmware 4.30 will add this feature automatically if auto-update is configured by default.
