Google Pixel latest update 2025: There is good news for some Google Pixel device users, as they will start receiving the new December 2025 update, which comes after the initial release (Android 16 QPR2) that took place at the start of this month. This update will be a big relief for some users, as it brings some important bug fixes.
It has been confirmed that many users of Pixel 8 and Pixel 9, as well as some owners of Pixel 10, have successfully received the latest December 2025 update. The update has been noticed to have been rolled out globally, particularly in the UK, some parts of the US, and certain parts of India.
This update is not as heavy as the main update the users received at the start of this month and will take up approximately 27MB of space. This update, according to Google, does not bring in any new functionalities but mostly focuses on bug fixes, among other improvements.
Bug Fixes in the Pixel December Update
There are certain bugs that have been dealt with; according to Google’s changelog, this release is meant to fix various issues that have been raised by Pixel owners following the release of the Android updates.
One major issue has a fix for excessive charging of the battery, which resulted in the devices draining faster than usual. The other fix is for the failure of touch inputs, which was common on the Pixel 10 line, where the screen would become unresponsive.
The update also addresses a problem with accessing content for users who upgraded their Android version from Android 14 to Android 16. Devices were unable to access this local content properly. Now this has been addressed.
Extended Warranty Support for Pixel 9 Pro Variants
With this update, Google has also announced the extended warranty programme for the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold models. It is a support programme that is applicable to devices that may be suffering from issues related to manufacturing defects.
The areas that are being covered include display issues like vertical lines and flickering screens. Google has made things clearer by stating that the programme is free of cost and only for eligible units.
Devices that have a cracked screen, are wet, or show evidence of physical abuse will not be eligible for the extended support.
How to Avail Pixel Extended Support
The eligible customer can approach the authorised Google Service Center or apply for assistance via Google's official website. The replacement units available under the said programme will have a 90-day warranty.
Google has also advised users to act early, since the extended support will only be available for a shortlist of devices that satisfy the eligibility criteria.
