YouTube, Google Play Store Down Update: Video streaming platform YouTube and Google app market Play Store faced a service disruption in the United States and India today and are now back. According to Downdetector, an outage monitoring platform, users reported 4,550+ outage reports for YouTube and about 1,950 on Google Play Store at around 09:00 PM IST.

People reported problems with search, login, and app downloads on the app market. On the video platform, people faced issues with the website, app and video streaming. India witnessed significant outage reports on both platforms too. The outage was centred around video streaming (85 per cent) and the website (11 per cent) in the 1,150+ reports at 09:55 PM). As for the Play Store, people reported about 500+ outages at 09:00 PM.

Meanwhile, users also reported problems with Google's search engine in the US, with roughly 1,550+ reports (09:30 PM IST). The update came amid a massive outage of Meta social media apps such as Facebook, Instagram, Facebook Messenger and Threads in parts of the world. Google apps, including YouTube, Gmail and Play Store were among the most affected by the disruption. Users have flooded X (formerly Twitter) with reactions.

YouTube has shared a response on X acknowledging the outage and said the business is working to fix the problem.

Google Play Store Down: X Reactions

In response to the issues reported by users, the Google Play Status Dashboard said: "We're investigating reports of an issue with Play Integrity API. We will provide more information shortly[04:04 PM UTC]." About 45 minutes after the statement, the service dashboard added: "The problem with Play Integrity API has been resolved."

Outage reports for both platforms have subsided considerably, and it seems YouTube and Play Store are now working fine for users. We tried both platforms on smartphones and PCs, and they functioned well without any issues.
