It looks like India is locking in for a good investment from Google, bringing the Mega AI hub of Google in India. Google has just announced that they will invest the 15 Billion Dollars (₹87,520 Crore approx.) in Andhra Pradesh, India. A new one Gigawatt data center and AI hub is expected to be built in Vishakhapatnam. This is Google’s largest investment in India and is expected to boost AI and cloud computing capabilities. 

Google 1-GigaWatt Data Center in India

Google announced its investment in India for 1-gigawatt data center and Artificial Intelligence hub in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. As per the reports by Reuters, the Port city of Vishakhapatnam will be the place where this project will go live. Reuters say that it is Google’s biggest investmen in India till date and is expected to empower the AI cloud ecosystem in India.

Airtel x Google: Mega AI hub

One of the biggest move by Google was to partner with the leading telecom company from India to setup the facility. So for this facility Google has partnered with Airtel to setup the facility and make this reality.

The state-of-art Cable Landing Station will also host the Google’s new sub-sea international cables that will connect its extensive global terrestrial and sub-sea infrastructure. Airtel will also create a stable and firm intra-city and inter-city fibre network as a part of this project.

This will offer faster experiences to Google users and customer keeping it high capacity and low-latency. It aims to improve the the capacity of the India’s digital power.

The Managing Director and Vice Chairman of Bharti Airtel, Gopal Mittal said:

Google Cloud Computing: Next Generation AI applications

Reports by Reuters suggest that this investment will bring the advanced AI infrastructure, large scale energy systems and expanded fibre-optic network. This will play a key role in boosting India’s capacity of supporting next-gen AI applications. 

Andhra Pradesh’s IT Minister Nara Lokesh said:

“In an era where data is the new oil, such initiatives will server as a strategic advantage”

Government Backing and Agreement

The Reuters report also said tat a formal memorandum of the understanding is to be signed in New Delhi, with top dignitaries including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister.

In the presence of Chandrababu Naidu, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw the project is being praised to be a transformative move making India the Vishakhapatnam and Global tech hub.

Google Investment Creating Jobs

It is considered as of the biggest foreign direct investment (FDI) tech investment in India. And this project is expected to generate over 180,000 jobs directly and indirectly as well. This project is built to not only take care of India’s growing hunger of data but also to become an important part in Google’s global AI infrastructure.
