Google is giving users more say in the kind of news they want to see. On August 12, the company introduced a new feature called Preferred Sources, aimed at personalising how news stories appear in Search. With this addition, readers can highlight the publications they follow the most, ensuring those outlets get more visibility in the Top Stories section.
So, how does it work? When you set a publication as a preferred source, Google prioritises its stories whenever it has relevant and timely updates. You’ll still see a balanced mix of coverage from other outlets, but your selected sources are placed front and centre. There’s also a separate “From your sources” section, making it easier to keep track of updates from the outlets you rely on.

This feature is currently available in India and the United States. For regular readers, it’s a small change that can have a big impact—cutting through the noise and surfacing the content that matters most to you.
Following The Daily Jagran more easily
If The Daily Jagran is where you usually turn for news, the Preferred Sources tool makes sure you don’t miss its latest stories. The process to set it up is straightforward:
1. Search for a news topic – Open Google and type in any trending query, such as “Exam results” or "iPhone 17" or "Election Results". At the top, you’ll notice the Top Stories section.
2. Open the sources menu – Look for the small icon on the right side of the Top Stories header and click or tap it. This takes you to the Preferred Sources menu.
3. Select The Daily Jagran – Type in The Daily Jagran and choose the official listing. This will add it to your personalised feed.
4. Refresh your search – Once saved, reload or search again. From here on, you’ll find more of The Daily Jagran’s stories highlighted within Top Stories.
