iPhone 17 Pro Max: Apple is gearing up for its September 9 launch event, and the spotlight will firmly be on the iPhone 17 Pro lineup. As always, many buyers will be torn between the standard Pro and the larger Pro Max. Over the years, Apple has sometimes kept both models identical in features, while in other years, the bigger Pro Max has received camera perks the smaller Pro missed out on. So what can we expect this time around? Here’s a look at the likely differences, based on leaks and early reports.

Design and Display

The most obvious difference remains size. The iPhone 17 Pro is tipped to carry a 6.3-inch OLED panel, while the Pro Max could stick with a 6.9-inch OLED display, just like last year’s iPhone 16 Pro Max. This means the Pro will continue to appeal to those who prefer a more compact, pocket-friendly device, whereas the Pro Max is built for users who want maximum screen real estate.

Battery Life

A larger body allows the Pro Max to pack in a bigger battery. Leaks suggest a jump to around 5,000 mAh for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, up from the 4,676 mAh cell in the 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 17 Pro, meanwhile, may land somewhere between 3,700 mAh and 4,000 mAh. In real-world use, that could translate to noticeably longer endurance on the Pro Max.

Camera Setup

On the camera front, both models are expected to be evenly matched. Reports point to a 48MP main sensor and a 48MP ultra-wide camera across both versions. The telephoto lens could be the most interesting upgrade, possibly moving to a higher-resolution sensor with a focal length around 3.5x–3.7x and zoom capabilities extending up to 8x. Importantly, no leaks so far suggest these improvements will be Pro Max-exclusive, which means buyers of the smaller Pro may finally get the same level of photography power.

Price and Storage

The iPhone 16 Pro currently starts at ₹119,900 in India, while the 16 Pro Max begins at ₹144,900. A price gap between the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max is inevitable. What remains unclear is whether Apple will boost the base storage of the Pro to 256GB, bringing it in line with the Pro Max. Some reports also hint at a possible $50 hike, though pricing leaks have been inconsistent.
