JE Technology Desk: Days after revealing the Meta Quest 3, a next-generation virtual and mixed reality headset, CEO Mark Zuckerberg took a jibe at Apple’s recently launched Vision Pro headset and said it is a highly-priced product with no magical solutions.
In a company-wide meeting, CEO Mark Zuckerberg reportedly stated that he is pleased with Meta's new virtual reality Quest headgear since it is less expensive and fosters social interaction. Further, he added that the Apple animation shown at WWDC 2023 mainly showed individuals becoming separated, which although it may be a reality of the future, he would prefer not to witness.
Further, the report suggested that Zuckerberg also discussed the design of Apple Vision Pro and said it gets a metal frame while other VR/VR headsets offer a plastic body in order to regulate the weight and keep it lightweight. Additionally, he also discussed that the Vision Pro does not have in-built to keep the device lightweight.
"From what I've seen so far, the good news is that they don't have any kind of magical solutions to any of the constraints on laws of physics that our teams haven't already explored and thought of. They went with a better resolution display, and between that and all of the technology they put in there to power it, it costs seven times more and now uses so much energy that you have to use a battery and a wire to operate it. They made that design trade-off, and it may make sense for the applications they're pursuing," Mark Zuckerberg was quoted as saying in the report.
Meanwhile, Mark Zuckerberg presented the teaser next generation Meta Quest 3 with 128 GB storage and a price of $499.99 just days before Apple's WWDC 2023. The smartphone has a 40% smaller design and a Snapdragon processor. Furthermore, the business indicated in a blog post that more information about the AR/VR device would be unveiled at the Meta Connect, which is planned to take place on September 27 this year.
