Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, taking to his social media handle teased the next generation Meta Quest 3 just ahead of Apple’s highly anticipated Mixed Reality headset announcement at WWDC 2023. The teaser says the Meta Quest 3 is redesigned and reimagined and has a 40 per cent slimmer design.
The teaser also stated that the Meta Quest 3 provides better gaming capabilities, as well as comfort. Furthermore, the users would be supported by a Snapdragon chipset for improved performance from the inside out.
“Introducing Meta Quest 3. The first mainstream headset with high-res color mixed reality. 40% thinner and more comfortable. Better displays and resolution. Next-gen Qualcomm chipset with 2x the graphics performance. Our most powerful headset yet. Coming this fall,” mentioned Zuckerberg in the caption.
In the caption, Zuckerberg also disclosed the pricing and various major news, including the library. He also stated that the device will be revealed to tech aficionados on September 27 at the Connect conference.
“Starting at $499, Quest 3 will be the best way to experience mixed and virtual reality in a standalone device. It'll be compatible with Quest 2's entire library with more titles coming. More details at our Connect conference on September 27,” he added.
The device will have a higher resolution display, as well as clearer and crisper images. In terms of controllers, it includes TruTouch haptics for a more immersive experience. Furthermore, Meta claims top-tier gaming performance as well as 500+ titles. It was also mentioned that users would be able to play older titles.
It's worth noting that the business intends to launch the Quest 3 in the fall, but the CEO has already teased it just ahead of Apple's Mixed Reality Pro device, which is expected to debut on the first day of WWDC 2023.
However, it would be interesting to see if Apple’s MR headset would compete with the Quest 3 in terms.
