Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced a big overhaul to their social networking platform, Threads, to improve user experience and competitiveness. The company will roll out an edit button that will allow users to alter their posts for free within five minutes of posting.

Previously, the users were required to delete and repost the same thread if they wanted to make a correction (fixing a typo or updating the information), which is a bit time-consuming. Now the edit button will allow the users to make corrections and will save time. The edit button will be available on both web platforms and mobile devices.

"Rolling out 'Voice Threads' and Edit today. Enjoy," Zuckerberg wrote in a post to mark the launch of these eagerly anticipated features. Instead of charging for an edit option like its rival X (formerly known as Twitter), Threads will provide users with this useful capability for free.

Meanwhile, the company is also working on the "Voice Threads" features and will be launching it soon. The feature will allow users to include voice posts in their material and increase the platform's communication choices.

Additionally, Threads won't end here. According to reports, the platform is getting ready to introduce a "Trends" feature to rival X. This possible functionality was recently discovered by a watchful app developer, who shared screenshots that a Meta employee had originally shared. These screenshots showed a list of hot issues, numbered, along with the quantity of active "threads" debating each one. The decision to add trending topics may increase user interaction and increase the appeal of Threads as a platform for users seeking out in-the-moment discussions.

In another user-friendly improvement, Meta is working on enabling Threads users to deactivate their accounts without having an impact on their Instagram profiles. Users cannot currently deactivate their Threads accounts without also losing their Instagram accounts, which has angered many. By December, this change should be in place, giving users additional flexibility and control over their user accounts.
