Threads, Meta's text-based updates app, which acts as a direct competitor to Elon Musk's X (formerly Twitter), is adding features at blazing-fast speed. In an attempt to better compete with the popular microblogging platform, Threads is now planning to add a Trending Topics feature, according to 9To5Mac.
According to the report, the Trending section will let users explore the active topics currently in the buzz on the app. However, a reader must note that Meta has not confirmed the arrival of this feature via official channels. Leaked accidentally by a Meta staff, app developer William Max posted the screengrab for a sneak peek of the UI on the platform.
The feature will display the most trending topics on the platform in a numbered format. This facility will likely be available within the 'Search' tab, which was revamped with keyword search for posts recently. It is unclear if a more polished UI or the same version in the screenshot will arrive for users. Considering the feature is already undergoing testing in full swing, we can anticipate the functionality to debut on the platform soon.

For context, X has a trending topic facility within the search bar that comprises the trending hashtags and keywords. These are sorted within the Trending column. With the fresh trending enhancement, Threads will get another feature, which it can encash to attract users.
