Meta is trying hard to encash Threads as a potential rival to Elon Musk's X (formerly called Twitter). The company regularly improves the app (one step at a time) in its endeavour to make the package a competent alternative. After bringing quote posts on the web, it seems the company is preparing for another feature that may allow users to edit a thread.
According to Alessandro Paluzzi, a mobile developer and app reverse engineer, the company is working on the ability to edit posts on the app. Meta could allow users to edit responses for up to five minutes after posting the content. In the screenshot shared by the tipster, the option is visible in the menu above the 'Who can reply' and 'Hide like count' options. A fourth option to delete the post is also visible in the screengrab.

Instagram Head Adam Mosseri shared in July that an option to edit posts on Threads is on the list of upcoming features, according to The Verge. With the discoverability of the new feature via the leaks channel, it is more than evident that editable posts are gearing up for a wider rollout.
This will make it a direct rival to X which offers post editing in its X Premium tier plans. It is unclear whether Threads will offer this functionality for free or introduce a paid subscription with exclusive benefits.
On a related note, the company also announced a web version of the app to replicate the Threads experience on the web platform. While it lacked several features at the time of launch compared to its closest rival X, the social media firm recently announced the option to quote posts threads on the platform from the web.
Coming to mobile, the report added that the option to switch profiles using long-press was available using the profile tab. Secondly, the company also introduced search functionality for users on the web. You can read more about the feature here.
