"Excited to test keyword search in Australia and New Zealand starting today. The plan is to roll it out in other English-speaking countries soon after that, and we're working to add more languages ASAP. If you're part of the test, try it out and let us know your feedback," Mosseri posted on the platform.

From the screengrab shared in the post, it is clear when a user enters a keyword, the accounts having that term will appear. But after pressing the search button, the posts having that keyword will be displayed to the user.

Speaking about the feature with The Verge, Instagram spokesperson Christine Pai said: "We are actively listening to the community's feedback and working on more features to improve the search experience."

While the company aims to rival Elon Musk's X (formerly called Twitter) with Threads, it still lacks features to send DMs, edit alt text and more, the report added. Plus, hashtags in a post are not clickable. However, the addition of a following feed and a Reposts tab hints that the company is working in the right direction. Despite the changes, the platform is witnessing a massive decline in user base.

In a recent move, the company also announced the wide availability of the web version of Threads to let users tune into the platform from their personal computers. You can read more on this update here.
