iOS 18 Beta 3 Features: Apple has started rolling out iOS 18 beta 3 update for enrolled developers. The update comes amidst the expectations of the iOS 18 public beta release, which is expected this month. Released two weeks after the second beta, iOS 18 beta 3 brings a range of enhancements for Dark Mode icons, Photos, Messages and more. Here are more details about the changes in iOS 18 beta 3.
iOS 18 Beta 3 Update: Features
Among the new enhancements include the Dark Mode icons for third-party apps such as Facebook, Telegram, Signal, YouTube, and others. However, not all apps are covered right now. Secondly, Apple has added a new 'Select' button for multiple selections in Photos from the main UI. As for Messages, the company has integrated stickers, emoji and Memoji in a single interface and added bigger icons among other tweaks.
Apple could have marked tweaks in the Memoji and stickers interface in a run-up to introduce Apple Intelligence features, Image Playground and Genmoji, according to MacRumors. Moreover, the company has also introduced dynamic iOS 18 wallpapers that change colours based on day timings. A brightness meter for the Flashlight has also been added to the version in Dynamic Island.
The RCS messaging texting standard now offers additional details once you press "Learn more..." below the toggle. Apple explains the feature will use wireless data and "cellular network identifiers may be shared with your carriers and its partners." After the US, it is reportedly appearing for some people in Canada. Code references of the version hint the company is working to bring writing tools, Genmoji, image generation and editing and other AI features to eligible iPhones.
Meanwhile, developers can opt-in for beta updates from the Settings app's Software Update section. The company has also announced third betas of iPadOS 18, tvOS 18, watchOS 11 and visionOS 2. To try out "Beta Updates", you must have an Apple ID linked to a developer account. iOS 18's stable build is expected to roll out widely in September 2024.
