iOS 19 Update: Apple is gearing up to unveil iOS 19—its next major software update for iPhones—and it’s shaping up to be one of the most ambitious overhauls in years. It is expected that the big reveal will take place on June 9, 2025, at the WWDC 2025, and you can also expect that the first developer beta will likely drop right after the event. The public rollout, as usual, should coincide with the launch of the iPhone 17 lineup in September.
Here’s what we know so far about iOS 19—from redesigned visuals to smarter AI integration and expanded device support.
A Bold New Look for iOS
Apple is reportedly planning a major redesign for iOS 19, drawing heavy inspiration from visionOS, the operating system powering the Apple Vision Pro headset. Expect a more futuristic aesthetic with translucent menus, floating tab bars, soft-edged icons, and glass-like buttons. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman describes it as the biggest design shift since iOS 7.
Siri Gets Smarter
Siri is also due for a serious upgrade. The voice assistant is expected to become more context-aware, offering smarter on-screen suggestions based on what you're doing. However, this next-gen Siri might only be available on the latest hardware—starting with the iPhone 15 Pro and newer.
AI-Powered Health Tools
iOS 19 is also expected to level up the Health app. Apple reportedly plans to introduce an AI-driven personal coaching feature, offering everything from fitness tips and diet tracking to guided workout videos.
Improved Messaging Across Platforms
Messaging is getting a big update too, especially when chatting with Android users. Apple is set to bring end-to-end encryption to RCS messages, making cross-platform conversations more secure. Features like message editing, unsending, threaded replies, and upgraded emoji reactions are also expected.
Live Translations via AirPods
One standout feature that we could see this time is the real-time language translation which will utilise AirPods. Your iPhone will be able to listen to a conversation in another language, translate it instantly, and let you respond in the same tongue—making communication seamless across borders.
More Openness for EU Users
To comply with European regulations, Apple may introduce broader support for third-party smartwatches, better audio switching for non-Apple headphones, and possibly new alternatives to AirDrop and AirPlay.
iOS 19: Supported Devices
Here are the iPhones expected to support iOS 19:
iPhone 17 series (upcoming)
iPhone 16e, 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max
iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max
iPhone 14 series
iPhone 13 series
iPhone 12 series
iPhone 11 series
iPhone SE (2nd gen and newer)
With smarter features, sweeping design changes, and a wider push toward AI integration, iOS 19 is shaping up to be a transformative update for iPhone users.
