If the Cupertino-based tech giant follows its conventional routine of launching iPhones, then it is likely that we will witness the launch soon in September 2025. This time it is expected that Apple will bring some significant upgrades to the next generation of iPhones. Although the company has not unveiled any details about the products yet, the internet is still filled with leaks and rumours speculating what the new models will bring to the table this time.
There have already been leaks that showed us dummies of what the iPhone 17 series could look like, probably sourced from a Chinese smartphone case maker. iPhone 17 Pro vs Pro Max: 5 Big Changes You Should Know About
1. Triple 48MP Cameras, But With a Twist
Apple is reportedly upgrading the camera systems on both the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, giving them a powerful triple-lens setup—each sensor boasting 48 megapixels. Expect a main lens, ultra-wide, and a new fusion sensor designed to improve low-light performance and colour accuracy. However, the Pro Max could steal the show with its exclusive Tetraprism 48 MP telephoto lens. If rumours hold true, this lens could offer up to 10x optical zoom—setting a new standard for smartphone photography.
2. Bigger Screens, Lighter Frames
One of the easiest ways to tell the two models apart might be screen size. The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to feature a 6.3-inch OLED display, while the Pro Max could stretch to a larger 6.9-inch panel for a more cinematic feel. Apple may also switch to lighter aluminium frames and introduce a half-glass back that improves both durability and wireless charging. A redesigned rectangular camera module is also in the works, giving both devices a fresh look.
3. A19 Pro Chip and More RAM
Under the hood, both devices are expected to run on Apple’s new A19 Pro chip, built on a 3nm process. That means better performance and improved battery efficiency across the board. With up to 12GB of RAM, these iPhones should handle demanding apps and multitasking with ease. The Pro Max could offer slightly better long-term performance, thanks to a bigger battery—around 5,000 mAh versus the Pro’s expected 4,500 mAh.
4. Higher Prices on the Horizon
The current trade war between the US and China is likely to shift the prices for the iPhone 17 lineup to the north. Ongoing supply chain pressures and rising manufacturing costs—especially in China—could drive up pricing globally. In India, for instance, the Pro model might start around ₹1,39,999, while the Pro Max could begin at ₹1,64,999. These prices reflect not just hardware upgrades but the broader economic landscape Apple is navigating.
5. September Launch Still on Track
As always, Apple is expected to stick to its tried-and-true timeline, with the iPhone 17 series likely launching in the second week of September. Pre-orders should open the following week, with deliveries starting by the end of the month—just in time for the holiday season rush.
