Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 16 series this year with four new models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. However, a slight change may prevail in the iPhone 17 series as the company may replace the 'Plus' model with the 'iPhone 17 Slim', as per Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu.
According to the research note, the iPhone 17 Slim may feature a 6.6-inch display (likely OLED). As the name suggests, the model could have a slimmer profile than other iPhone 17 series offerings. It may run on an A18 or A19 chipset. As for storage, the device is expected to get 8GB RAM and a 24MP selfie camera, according to MacRumors. On the rear, the 17 Plus could offer a 48MP telephoto sensor.
Ross Young, a display supply chain analyst had already said the model could have a 6.55-inch screen. For context, the current iPhone 15 Plus has a 6.7-inch screen. The model could offer an aluminium frame rather than a titanium one like the Pro offering. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to get a titanium frame like the current offerings.
On a related note, Pu also hints the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to offer 12GB RAM. For context, the iPhone 15 Pro models get 8GB RAM. The analyst also added that the 17 Pro Max will likely have a narrower Dynamic Island. It could be the first size reduction since the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro.
The sizes of both the 'Pro' iPhones will likely remain unchanged. Meanwhile, the rumour mill has also tipped the details of the iPhone 16 series in the past. Dummy units of these models tipped the design of these devices. You can read more on this here.
