The global debut of iQOO India's upcoming custom Android based skin OriginOS 6 will happen on October 15, the company has confirmed, after months of anticipation and reports. Based on Android 16, the new user interface is a major step for both Vivo and iQOO as they finally start to converge their software ecosystem across regions.

The software that was around until now was China exclusive in the name of OriginOS while international users had to be content with FunTouch OS. By deploying OriginOS 6, all Vivo and iQOO handsets will ultimately transition to the same software basis, which should ensure a more finished, feature complete and seamless experience globally.

OriginOS 6 Beta Program

Prior to the launch, Vivo and iQOO have started beta testing for the same:

- iQOO has also brought out the official word that a beta build will become available soon for the eligible device, although the company has not shared its full rollout plan at this stage.

- Vivo has also started a closed beta testing for a few X200 Pro users in India, as per its official FAQ page spotted by us. No open beta has been announced, though.

The companies mentioned that the update will offer a smoother, smarter, and more personalised smartphone experience than the FunTouch OS.

OriginOS 6 vs FunTouch OS: What’s New?

FunTouch OS has generally been slammed for its lack of fluid animations, non-uniform navigation as well as absence of strong customisation by KOLs. On the other hand, OriginOS has been well received in China for its polished look and sophisticated mechanisms.

- Beautiful Design: New icons, combined with a smooth animation wallpaper and advanced customization tools.

Eligible Devices for OriginOS 6

The first devices to ship with OriginOS 6 out of the box will be:

- Vivo X300 series

- iQOO 15 series

These will debut in China later this October and India by the end of this year.

Those who already have a Twist 1 software release installed, their upgrade eligibility will be as follows:

- Vivo X200 Pro → Must be on 15.0.24.5.W10.V000L1 or later.

- iQOO 13 → Must be on 15.0.24.15.W10.V000L1 or later.

The update is live now, and users can check if they are eligible in Settings > System Management & Upgrade > System Upgrade > Check for Updates.

October 15 is the first point of origin for Vivo’s new and iQOO’s own software strategy, OriginOS 6. The brands want to bring a consistent, globalized User Experience (UX) supported by AI-driven features such as intelligent multitasking and more polished visual experience that is powered by the new Harmony OS based on Android 16.

This may finally result in more timely updates and a software experience that’s closer to what Chinese Vivo and iQOO fans have been accustomed to over the years.
