SINCE the games like PUBG, BGMI, and Asphalt gained popularity in India, mobile gaming has become an important part of people's routines, particularly those of millennials. To take on that, especially in terms of price and performance, the mid-range category with exceptional features, hardware, and software has now become a need and people do look for versatile options.

Looking at the gap, many companies have released new smartphones, and the category has become extremely crowded. However, smartphone companies such as iQOO have established a significant market presence in the same category.

We got our hands on the iQOO Z7, and the smartphone has a lot to offer for the price of Rs 20,000.

iQOO Z7 Design:

The iQOO Z7 retains the square camera module on the back and the same design language as its predecessor, the iQOO Z6. The phone also has a unique contrasting colour combination that gives it an appealing appearance. Another advantage of the smartphone is its sleek and lightweight design with a sturdy finish. Overall, the smartphone got a strong build in the segment.

iQOO Z7 Display:

The phone comes with an AMOLED panel, a decent 90 Hz refresh rate panel, and an FHD+ resolution, making it a good buy for day-to-day operations. However, if you prioritise video streaming, the smartphone's 1300 nits brightness and vivid sharp colours may never let you fall short of your expectations. Additionally, it is still a significant improvement over the Z6's LCD display.

iQOO Z7 Performance:

In terms of performance, the mid-ranger iQOO Z7 is anything but not a mid-ranger; in fact, it handles all of the given tasks splendidly. At least for me, it can handle multitasking and gaming at the same time with great ease. Not only can the smartphone handle your work, but it can also handle gaming with great potential.

I played BGMI, Call of Duty Mobile, and Asphalt 8 on the smartphone, and it performed admirably. Normal lag or freeze issues, even at higher frame rates, were uncommon with the phone. However, as the battery runs low, the smartphone becomes jittery. Furthermore, we have not observed any major heating issues, indicating that the company has worked on the thermals as well.

iQOO Z7 Camera And Battery:

The camera was another intriguing aspect that did not disappoint me. The iQOO Z7 has a variety of modes, including optical image stabilisation. Surprised? We were as well. It's Live Photo, Slo-mo, Time-lapse, Pro mode, double exposure, Dual View, 64MP mode, and other features make it suitable for both daytime and low-light photography. Another thing to note is that even after a large zoom, the camera does not pixelate the image, especially in portrait mode. The 64 MP primary shooting lens, combined with the 16 MP front camera, is ideal for producing super-perfect results, especially under the Rs 20,000 segment.

Meanwhile, the degraded battery of 4,500 mAh as compared to the 5,000 mAh battery in the Z6 is still acceptable and would not disappoint you at all.

Our Verdict:

The iQOO Z7 is a clear winner, especially in the under Rs 20,000 segment. People who are looking for an all-rounder companion with great performance, a decent screen, an impressive camera, and a good battery backup can definitely consider the phone.
