Apple Gaming App: This year Apple is expected to come out with its iPhone 17 series lineup in the upcoming months, probably in September, but there is something else as well that Apple might be trying its hands on. This time at the WWDC 2025, Apple might launch a new app which will cater to video games only, in a move to expand its presence in the gaming community.

According to a report from Bloomberg, the app might be showcased at the WWDC on June 9 and will officially roll out with the latest iOS, which is expected to come in the latest iPhone models, which are anticipated in September.

The new app by the Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to serve as a central hub for all things related to gaming. From tracking your game achievements, checking leaderboards, communicating with other players and maybe a trophy system like the one we have on PS and Xbox, you will be able to keep track of everything in just one place. The new gaming app that will include editorial content highlighting the latest games, along with promotions for Apple Arcade, its $6.99/month subscription service.

This app is expected to take the place of Game Centre, Apple’s original gaming hub launched back in 2010, which never really caught on. What’s interesting is that the macOS version might even allow support for games installed outside the App Store—something Apple has rarely entertained.

Despite the iPhone’s massive popularity among mobile gamers, Apple has yet to establish itself as a serious gaming brand. Insiders testing the app say that while it could improve the overall gaming experience on Apple devices, it’s unlikely to shift public perception in a major way.

Whether this app ends up redefining gaming on Apple platforms—or just becomes another launcher with polish—remains to be seen.
