Jio Prepaid Mobile Rechage Plan: Reliance Jio has quietly introduced a new prepaid recharge plan priced at Rs 199, placing it right next to its existing Rs 198 pack. At first glance, the difference between the two plans may seem insignificant, but the benefits offered are actually quite different depending on the type of user and device you have.

Interestingly, Jio’s older Rs 198 prepaid plan is still live on the company’s website alongside the newly added Rs 199 pack. As of now, the telecom operator has not confirmed whether one of the plans will eventually replace the other or if both will continue to coexist.
Rs 198 Plan Details
The Rs 198 plan is positioned as a True 5G Unlimited offering and is also listed under Jio’s popular plans category. It comes with unlimited voice calling, 2GB of high-speed data per day, and 100 SMS messages daily. The plan remains valid for 14 days, giving users a total of 28GB high-speed data during the validity period. Once the daily limit is exhausted, internet speed drops to 64 Kbps. Eligible users with compatible devices also get access to unlimited 5G data. Additional benefits include access to JioTV and JioAICloud services. The effective daily cost of this recharge comes down to around Rs 14.14.
Rs 199 Plan Details
On the other hand, the newly launched Rs 199 prepaid pack falls under Jio’s Value Plan category and is being promoted as an affordable option. This plan also offers unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS messages per day, but the daily data limit is slightly lower at 1.5GB per day. The total high-speed data offered is 27GB, and after the quota ends, speeds are reduced to 64 Kbps. Unlike the Rs 198 plan, there is no mention of unlimited 5G access here. However, the biggest advantage is the longer 18-day validity period. Users also get access to JioTV and JioAICloud subscriptions. Its effective daily cost works out to roughly Rs 11.05.
In simple terms, spending just one extra rupee changes the entire value proposition. The Rs 198 plan focuses more on higher daily data and unlimited 5G access for a shorter duration, while the Rs 199 plan sacrifices some daily data in exchange for four extra days of validity at a lower daily cost.

For users with 5G smartphones, the Rs 198 recharge may appear more appealing because of the unlimited 5G benefit. Meanwhile, 4G users might prefer the Rs 199 pack if longer validity matters more than the extra 500MB of daily data. It’s a small price gap on paper, but the overall experience offered by both plans is quite different.
