Lava Mobiles is working on Lava Shark 2 after the success of launching Lava Shark 5G recently in 2023 in India. In the run-up to its introduction, they revealed some features, most notably, that the Note 8 (2021) will feature an AI-augmented triple rear camera system that should improve not only photography but design.
Lava Shark 2 Camera Details
Lava Mobiles in a teaser shared on X (erstwhile Twitter) showed off the Lava Shark 2 camera module. The triple rear camera setup includes AI features as well as a 50MP primary sensor. It does sport an identical iPhone 16 Pro Max-like camera island with LED flash and “50MP AI Camera” branding.
The design of the Lava Shark 2 still resembles that of its predecessor, with a waterdrop-style notch for the front camera. There are physical buttons on the right, while nothing is present on the left side. One model even packs a headphone jack - sitting on the bottom next to the mic, speaker grille and USB Type-C port. Lava has put up two colour options of the phone: blue and silver, both with a metallic frame.
Expected Improvements
Although not much is currently known about the device, the Lava Shark 2 is speculated to be an upgrade on the Lava Shark 5G with better AI prowess, photography and might have improved performance and display characteristics. More information should follow closer to launch.
Lava Shark 5G Recap
As for the Lava Shark 5G, here’s what it comes with:

- Processor Octa-core 6nm Unisoc T765 processor with GPU Mali G-57, up to 4GB RAM and 64GB storage
- 13MP dual camera with AI lens, and 5MP front camera

- Connectivity features such as 5G, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASSUSB type-C and audio jack of 3.5mm
- Additional virtual RAM support up to 4GB and expandable storage up to 1TB via microSD
Conclusion
The Lava Shark 2 will offer AI-improved photography and some slight design upgrades to the series. With a 50MP triple rear camera setup, and some significant improvements, it appears to be headed for a substantial jump over the Lava Shark 5G, so it’s an exciting launch for Indian smartphone customers.
