MICROSOFT is adding artificial intelligence to its platform at lightning speeds. In the latest preview of Bing, the Windows maker introduced generative AI-assisted Knowledge Card 2.0 and Stories in Bing, the company announced in a blog on March 24.
With 'Stories', Bing can draft AI-generated stories to help users consume information via small data packets. It will use "text, images, video and audio" to deliver the results.
These cater to "visual and auditory learners" and are available in different languages. "English, French, Japanese, German, Spanish, Russian, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Polish and Arabic" are the supported languages, Microsoft adds. Stories have a dynamic bar (with blue accents) on top, similar to other social media apps, that moves forward to help the reader know when the next slide will appear.
Knowledge Cards 2.0 are present on the right side of Bing results. They are stuffed with facts, timelines, polls and more in a user-interactive card interface. It uses generative AI to compile the results.
However, the upgraded knowledge cards and stories are displayed on selected queries only. When we entered 'google' in the search bar, along with Wikipedia info, it presented us with a fact, products of the tech giant and a poll.
Bing informed us that 'Google' is a misspelt version of 'googol,' which is a mathematical term meaning "10 raised to the power of 100." it highlighted the text the quoted text in orange and large size. Speaking of the poll, it gave us a question - Which application can't you do without on a daily basis? Along with four options - Google Drive, Gmail, Meet and Docs. It listed Microsoft Bing, Yahoo and Baidu in the "Explore more" category.
Other improvements to Bing chat include easy duplication of text from chats on iOS, enhanced "voice detection" in the mobile app and a fix to the problem of Bing search initiating a redundant chat query simultaneously, the blog added.
Microsoft Bing Blogs further highlights the introduction of Bing Image Creator in the preview that draws assistance from OpenAI's DALL-E. The service has covered the entire preview umbrella. It is available in 'Creative mode,' the tech giant writes.
