Microsoft wants to add a new dedicated key to Windows PC keyboards. Microsoft has been extending AI Copilot to nearly every platform, including Android and iOS. The Copilot in Windows experience will open when that button is pressed, making it simpler to use Copilot in everyday situations.

Yusuf Mehdi, Executive Vice President and Consumer Chief Marketing Officer, stated in a blog post that "the Copilot key joins the Windows key as a core part of the PC keyboard and when pressed, the new key will invoke the Copilot in Windows experience to make it seamless to engage Copilot in your day-to-day."

"We see this as another transformative moment in our journey with Windows where Copilot will be the entry point into the world of AI on the PC," he stated.

The tech giant announced that the Copilot key will be available on many of the new Windows 11 PCs from its ecosystem partners starting in late February and continuing through spring, including on future Surface devices, during the days running up to and during CES. When Microsoft added the Windows key to the PC keyboard about thirty years ago, users from all over the world could interact with Windows.

"There's never been a better moment to begin using Copilot; it can do everything from transforming your thoughts into tunes to producing stunning visuals and polished drafts to modifying PC settings. Copilot is your go-to AI partner for both work and play," Mehdi said.

Previously, the company introduced a dedicated Copilot application for Android and iOS users with an aim to make the everyday tasks at hand easy. The application is currently on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and can be downloaded for free.
