Notepad is one of Microsoft's early apps for taking, and editing notes and saving them as documents. It appears that Microsoft is now giving the application some thought, even if no significant features have been introduced in the last three decades.
Nearly forty years after the text editor was first included in Windows in 1983, Microsoft began to bring out spellcheck and autocorrect in the Notepad app in Windows 11 after a few updates. According to the reports, testing of the function began in March.
The spell check tool is nearly identical to how Word and Microsoft Edge highlight misspelt words, with red underlining indicating errors. Notepad for Windows 11 allows users to set or disable spellcheck based on file type. Microsoft has been adding new functionality to the Notepad app for Windows 11.

Notepad now includes character count, dark mode, tabs, Copilot integration, and a virtual fidget spinner. In December of last year, the Notepad software for Windows 11 acquired a character count function at the bottom, similar to how Microsoft Word counts the number of words in a document.
The character counts for the selected text and the complete document is displayed in the status bar when the text is selected. A further recent innovation is the autosave function, which removes the requirement for the save prompt to appear when the application is closed.
