Microsoft Paint, one of the most popular Windows tools for scaling photos and creating various graphics, has recently received a substantial update. After 38 years, the corporation has incorporated the new 'transparency' and 'layers' features, which appear to be lifted from Photoshop. The update is being rolled out to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels.
Users will now be able to add, remove, and manipulate layers on the canvas to produce digital art that is richer and more sophisticated thanks to this upgrade. They can layer forms, text, and other graphic components to stack them on top of one another.

The new Layers button in the toolbar should be clicked to open a panel on the side of the canvas. Users can expand the canvas here by adding new layers. According to the company, they may also duplicate particular layers or blend layers together in addition to showing or hiding them.
"We're starting to push out an update to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels today (version 11.2308.18.0 or higher). We are adding support for layers and transparency with this update," Dave Grochocki, Principal Product Manager for Windows Inbox Apps, said in a blog post on Monday.
"Layers, transparency, and other features in Paint can be used to create interesting new images and artwork! When paired with the new backdrop removal capability, for example, you can easily build unique layered compositions," Grochocki said.
Do note that the feature is not available for all public users and is expected to roll out in the coming months.

Meanwhile, the reports suggest that the Microsoft team has accidentally exposed 38 TB of private company data. Users of the GitHub repository, which offers open-source code and AI models for image recognition, were directed to retrieve the models from a URL hosted on Azure Storage.
