Microsoft, one of the first companies to invest in artificial intelligence, has been developing a wide range of new tools and skill sets powered by AI. In the most recent update, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft Satya Nadella stated that the company will improve the AI workforce and alter every industry in order to assist the nation become self-reliant. In addition, he declared that by 2025, Microsoft would offer AI skilling opportunities to 2 million Indians, bridging the skills gap and bolstering India's prospects for success in the AI age.

"India is in a unique position to realise the potential of artificial intelligence. In order to reduce the country's AI skills gap and provide new possibilities across the board, we are dedicated to forming wide partnerships across the public and private sectors," Nadella said to the assembly.

Nadella emphasised how Microsoft Copilot and the company's other AI technologies are assisting individuals and companies in achieving quantifiable increases in productivity by enabling them to finish tasks more quickly and with greater quality. Copilot for Microsoft 365 and GitHub Copilot are already being used by numerous Indian organisations, including Axis Bank, Infosys, HCL Tech, LTIMindtree, and others, to accelerate innovation.

According to Microsoft, for every US dollar invested in AI projects, Indian businesses receive an average return of $3.86, and over 150 businesses are already utilising Azure OpenAI Service to innovate in sectors including fast-moving consumer goods, e-commerce, aviation, and agriculture.

The national carrier airline, Air India, has introduced a virtual agent dubbed AI.g that uses generative AI. Since its March 2023 start, it has successfully responded to over 500,000 client inquiries and handles over 6,000 queries daily in four languages.

Microsoft has more data centre regions than any other cloud provider in the nation, with its fourth data centre area scheduled to go operational soon and data centres working with Jio.
