MIUI 14 has been made official by Xiaomi in India. Smartphone manufacturers have already started rolling out Android 13-based OS in their phones. And finally, Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco phones are set to be a part of that pool. The MIUI 14 based on Android 13 will be an upgrade to the existing MIUI 13. The company’s new ROM is set to start rolling out on February 27, the company tweeted.

Launched on August 16, 2010, this(MIUI) was Xiaomi's first product, Sudeep Sahu, Deputy, Head of Product quotes in the product launch video of MIUI 14. Xiaomi tips it to be - The Update. Here are full details about the new feature introduced in the new MIUI 14.

Performance

Smart ROM Optimisation - This feature will optimise the size of apps in the long run and reduce space occupancy to give users more free space.

RAM Optimisation - The new UI uses 200 MB less memory on bootup enhancing the bootup speeds, according to Xiaomi.

Customisation

The new update has updated wallpapers, like the earlier version of MIUI. Plus, it has a fresh set of widgets to explore. New styles of widgets in the gallery app, redesigned widget for battery, step counter and cleaner and other apps is a part of the update. The Weather app has been completely redesigned app with more details.

Enlarged Folder feature will help directly launch the app without opening the folder. The bigger size will ensure more accessibility and reduce the effort to open the folder and then trigger the app.

Tabluar Icons will help get key information in a 2:1 widget on the homescreen for step counter and sleep tracker. The feature will expand to other apps in the coming days.

Convenience

The settings page has been completely redesigned. With the new Copy Text feature a user will be able to directly copy text from clicked pictures by long pressing on the photo with the text.

Creativity

The gallery app will allow users to "remove lines, objects and shadows" from the images captured from the gallery app. Plus the camera will have added voice shutters like saying "cheese" to click a picture.

Protective watermark has debuted to avoid duplication of a picture or document while sharing.

The change background feature will cut out the subject to replace the background in the clicked photo instantly. MIUI Video Editor has added support to apply filters, add music, crop and resize frame and more.

Other than new features, sidebar, sky filter, and dual apps feature have been retained and further optimised.

Xiaomi tips it to be a ‘cleaner and more intuitive interface’ in a series of latest tweets. The company on Wednesday tipped an “India-exclusive #ReadySteadySmooth experience,” with the new MIUI 14. The company teased the new skin as the “most optimised MIUI yet” in a 29-second clip on Thursday.
