ONEPLUS, a Chinese consumer electronics maker which has been launching a series of new flagship smartphones, TVs, and earbuds in a while, has now officially announced that it would be launching its first-ever foldable smartphone in the second half of this year. The company has already posted a teaser on social media platforms which hints that the phone may debut in the third quarter of 2023.
The company has not revealed any kind of specifications or price but has reportedly trademarked the OnePlus V Fold and V Flip names with the Chinese IPR administration recently.
Kinder Liu, President, and COO of OnePlus said, “Our first foldable phone will have the signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience. It must be a flagship phone that doesn’t settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects. We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market,” for the foldable phones.
Meanwhile, Samsung is dominating the market with its Flip and Fold smartphones in the Indian market. Additionally, Oppo and Motorola have also showcased their new flip smartphones making it clear that they would be entering the market soon. Oppo has also introduced Oppo Find N2 Flip recently.
Earlier, the company launched its flagship OnePlus 11 5G, OnePlus 11R, OnePlus Pad, OnePlus Q2 Pro TV, a mechanical keyboard, and some more utility gadgets at the Cloud 11 event held in New Delhi on February 7. Most of the gadgets are already on open sale in India and global markets.
Additionally, the company has showcased the OnePlus 11 Concept with Active Cryoflux cooling technology which can keep the device cooler by up to 2.1 degree Celsius which allows users to get improved gaming and productivity. The all-new technology is capable of reducing charging temperature by 1.6°C, which can cut charging time by 30 to 45 seconds. Interestingly, this kind of technology was earlier used in high-end PCs.
