NASA is making it easier than ever to watch real space stuff without leaving your living room. In a cool new deal, the agency will add its free channel, NASA+, to Netflix, giving fans live rocket launches, astronaut spacewalks, and stunning Earth views from the International Space Station straight through the TV at home.

The update is set to land later this summer and aims to put NASA shows on a platform everyone knows. Of course, NASA+ will still stream for free on the official app and website, but the Netflix option hopes to reach new audiences and let them explore space with just one remote click.

A Step Toward Broader Space Education

Rebecca Sirmons, the General Manager of NASA+, believes the best way to honour the agency’s mission is to share its stories with as many people as possible:

“Our Space Act of 1958 calls on us to share our story of space exploration with the broadest possible audience. Together, we’re committed to a Golden Age of Innovation and Exploration, inspiring new generations, right from the comfort of their couch or in the palm of their hand.”

What You’ll Be Able to Watch on Netflix

Once the partnership is live, NASA+ shows will sit right inside Netflix’s familiar menu. Subscribers will be able to tune in to:

  • Live Rocket Launches
  • Real-time Mission Control Broadcasts
  • Astronaut Spacewalks
  • HD Views from the International Space Station
  • Special Events and Coverage of Deep Space Missions
  • All of this will be available at no extra cost to Netflix subscribers.

NASA+ Will Remain Free and Independent

Prefer a standalone experience? NASA confirmed that NASA+ will still remain free and ad-free on:

  • The NASA mobile app
  • The NASA.gov website

This ensures viewers can access space content even without a Netflix subscription.
