GOOGLE, which recently announced Android 14 with AI-enabled capabilities for all Android users, made an intriguing revelation. According to the California-based technology giant, the current latest Android 13 is only used by 15% of active users globally, while Android 11, its predecessor, is the most popular device among active users.
The data from April 2023 and June 2023 indicates that Android 13 experienced another period of growth, growing from 12.1 per cent in April to 14.7 per cent in June, meaning Android 13 is now installed on about 15% of active devices worldwide, but it is still not widely used. According to the Android Studio, which allows users to see what percentage of devices are running on a particular version and also helpful in determining which apps are supported by your device based on the lowest version, the Android 13 experienced another period of growth.
Meanwhile, earlier versions such as Android 12 and Android 10 have seen a decline in growth, according to a report from 9to5Google. In terms of facts and data, the Android version that has grown the most is Android Oreo, which has increased from 6.7% to 8.3%.
On the other hand, Google is all set to introduce the next-gen Android 14 Beta is out with a new set of features, including privacy, performance, user interface, system navigation, artificial intelligence, and more. However, these features are still available for developers and other beta testers who have enrolled themselves as early adopters.
Additionally, the report suggests that the upcoming Android 14 will come up with an iOS-like feature that would allow the users to see the battery's health. However, it is still not clear by the company if the users would get the feature or not.
On the other hand, smartphones from brands like Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus are expected to get Android 14 first.
