Nothing has recently made available an AI-powered Essential Space app with call recording features, giving select smartphones such as the Nothing Phone 3, Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro greater functionality to record, transcribe and manage voice calls easily.

Call Recording in Essential Space

The Essential Space, first introduced with the Nothing Phone 3 lineup, is designed to simplify daily tasks with AI-powered tools. Users can launch the hub instantly using the Essential Key, located on the right side of the device. The latest update adds the ability to record calls directly from Essential Space.

Users can start recording during a voice call by long-pressing either Essential Key, or tapping "Start recording" from within a notification at the top of the screen. After call termination, recordings are automatically saved in Essential Space so they are easy to access later; transcription provides further depth by summarising and outlining important conversations and topics.

Availability

The rollout began today and is happening automatically, though it is limited to select regions. Initially, users in the UK, India, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia will have access to the feature by October 7. Nothing plans to expand availability to more countries in the future.

Other Recent Updates in Essential Space

Nothing has been making Essential Space more useful and interactive with new functionality, offering users new capabilities for uploading images and audio recordings, sharing it as images, PDFs or Markdown files and managing tasks efficiently. In September they added the Flip-to-Record feature for audio clips making content sharing even easier and efficient.

Future of Essential Space

The Essential Space hub first made available with the Nothing Phone 3, 3a and 3a Pro is now anticipated to become standard feature of future Nothing smartphones. As part of its software updates, Nothing promises AI-driven tools to simplify tasks and increase productivity.
