And now, there are no launch-level leaks for its next affordable smartphones and the first set of rumours tells us that the Nothing Phone 4a could be the company’s next flagship smartphone. There’s no official announcement just yet, but that doesn’t mean we have to wonder about what the certification sightings and tips are telling us: this thing is well under way. One such listing of an upcoming device has been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), and preliminary details suggest a new design, speedier Snapdragon chipsets, and an improved camera system. As the company increasingly strives for cleaner aesthetics and years of software support, it’s looking like the Nothing Phone 4a could be a formidable midrange foe. Here is what we know so far.
Nothing Phone 4a design (expected)
Leaks indicate Nothing is in store – a cleaner, stripped-down look this time. The see-through back may stay, but the design promises to be less busy than the Phone 3a, with a refreshed pattern and fewer design elements. For the front, the Phone 4a is said to sport a bigger 6.82-inch display with thin bezels and possibly have a higher refresh rate as well. The brightness should be good for outdoor use, and Panda Glass may again be the protection layer of choice.

Performance and software
Sales pitch Under the hood, it's rumoured that the Nothing Phone 4a will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 – a good leap forward for the a-series. According to the report, the 8GB RAM/128GB storage option could be available in the base variant. If true, this puts the phone in good stead to compete with midrange contenders. Software details are less clear, with early leaks pointing toward Android 16 with Nothing OS running the show. The company may commit to at least three major Android updates for long-term use.

Camera hardware
rumours The camera will be a worthy upgrade. The Nothing Phone 4a could feature a triple-camera system on the back consisting of a 64MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens and an 8MP ultra-wide shooter. That setup should have better zooming capabilities, offer more detail, and be far more flexible photographically. On the front, there is likely to be a 32MP selfie shooter placed inside a centred punch-hole.
India launch timeline
The BIS certification spotted by tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore—with model number A069 — is the strongest indicator that the launch is close. Nothing’s past timelines suggest the Phone 4a could arrive in India around January 2026. There are also whispers about a 4a Pro variant launching alongside the standard model.

Expected price
The Nothing Phone 4a is expected to be priced between Rs 25,999 and Rs 29,999 in India. This automatically places it in the midrange price bracket, going up against the likes of OnePlus, Samsung and Vivo. But with its clean software, unique design and improved hardware, it might set itself apart among buyers seeking something different.
Final thoughts
Though Nothing has not yet publicly acknowledged the Phone 4a, certification listings and a steady stream of leaks suggest that its official debut is imminent. A sleeker look, for starters, and better specs: The Phone 4a is potentially the next big thing to come out of India’s cutthroat midrange scene. And if those rumoured prices hold up, Kandi’s newcomer could turn the segment on its head.
