LG OLED TV 2025: LG has now officially announced the fourth generation of its OLED panel, with a much brighter and energy-efficient display that will be available in the top-tier segment of LG OLED TVs this year.
Just over a week has passed since LG unveiled its 2025 OLED TV lineup at CES 2025. Among the major announcements, LG revealed that its flagship G and M Series OLED TVs will no longer use Micro Lens Array (MLA) display technology to boost panel brightness.
When LG unveiled its 2025 OLED TV lineup, they were secretive about how their new models achieved higher brightness levels without relying on the Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology that had powered their predecessors. MLA had been a crucial feature, enabling LG’s flagship OLEDs to rival quantum dot OLEDs from competitors like Samsung and Sony.

However, in the days following the announcement, tech enthusiasts and journalists began uncovering more details, aided by insights from a rival brand. During a showcase of Panasonic's 2025 TV lineup, it was revealed that their upcoming OLED model, once set to use MLA, would now adopt a new display technology called Primary RGB Tandem. Since Panasonic sources its OLED panels from the same supplier as LG, it quickly became clear how LG’s new TVs were achieving better brightness levels without relying on MLA hardware.
The new fourth-gen panel is capable of reaching up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness, according to LG display, while its predecessor the third-gen OLED panel which supported the MLA technology had its max brightness capped at 3,000 nits. With this said it is very likely that we will see performance gains in LG's top-tier OLED TVs over the years to come, which is something to definitely look out for.
To make things even more exciting the increased brightness is not as power-intensive as the previous generation it comes with a 20% decrease in power consumption on a 65-inch panel.
Now as Samsung is going ahead with its QD-OLED TVs in 2025, it will be exciting to see what LG's four-stack OLED can conjure.
